Opioid Settlement Fund Community Grant Program

The South Dakota Opioid Settlement Community Grant Program is now accepting applications. Through this grant program, South Dakota-based organizations are extended an opportunity to apply for funding assistance which can be used to abate and alleviate the impacts of the opioid crisis and co-occurring substance use challenges. As you may be aware, South Dakota has received funding from the National Settlement Agreement involving a number of pharmaceutical companies. This funding is split between what is called the statewide share and the localized share. The Department of Social Services (DSS) in partnership with the Opioid Abuse Advisory Committee is utilizing 25% of the statewide share of the National Opioid Settlements to fund this grant program.

Allowable activities must align with the Approved UsesĀ for the Settlement Funds.
Applications are currently being accepted online, which can be accessed on the web page linked below. A FAQ document, budget template, and notes on preparing to apply are also available.

Visit the Funding Opportunities and Grant Information page on the DSS website. Info regarding the Opioid Settlement Fund Community Grant Program can be found in the middle of the page.

Applications received by April 1 will be reviewed for funding beginning June 2024.

For more information, please see the website above or contact the Division of Behavioral Health at 605.367.5236 or email questions toĀ DSSbh@state.sd.us.
