The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) is excited to announce the 2024 Rural Health Leaders Conference will have a variety of sessions, including advocacy updates, solutions-based conversation and the future of healthcare.
Attendees at this years conference will hear from national and state healthcare advocacy experts. A View from the Hill: Rural Health Updates from DC, with Alexa McKinley with the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), will be presented on day one. Alexa McKinley is the Government Affairs and Policy Director at the (NRHA). Alexa leads NRHA’s executive branch advocacy and provides policy and technical assistance to Capitol Hill. Her portfolio includes Medicare payment, Medicare Advantage, rural hospital policy, Graduate Medical Education, 340B, and oral health.
SDAHO’s Advocacy and Quality Integration team are providing a state advocacy update. Medicaid Expansion, Financial Updates & Workforce Initiatives, is the second session taking place on day one, focusing on advocacy efforts.
Solution-based conversations throughout the session will also be taking place, as presenters share insights and trends on the future of healthcare. Housing continues to be a challenge for communities big and small across our state. Attendees will hear from federal and state housing experts during the session titled: South Dakota Housing Challenges: A Conversation About Solutions.
Darren Walker, with SoundMind Leadership will present, Be the CHANGE: Effective Leadership Comes from Within. Darren is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified executive and team coach. He is an expert in culture, leadership, and people solutions. Additionally, Darren is a certified facilitator with Crucial Learning, Franklin Covey, John Maxwell, The Five Behaviors, The 6 Working Geniuses and other related products.
Wrapping up this year’s conference: The Future is Human: Creating People-First Work Cultures with Lisa Walden with the Good Company Consulting. Lisa Walden is a speaker, strategist, and consultant dedicated to helping businesses create authentic, empowering workplaces that don’t inspire the dreaded Sunday scaries. Her presentations deliver action-oriented insights that help people better connect, collaborate, and communicate. As co-founder of Good Company Consulting, her work is centered on the (strangely revolutionary) concept that people and strategy don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
