CMS seeks applicants for rural health grants

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is soliciting applications for the Rural Health Network Development Planning Grant Program.

The Network Planning program aims to assist in the development of an integrated health care network, specifically for entities that do not have a history of formal collaborative efforts. The program seeks to achieve efficiencies; expand access to, coordinate and improve the quality of essential health care services; and strengthen the rural health care system.

Application guidance can be found here.

The $2.4 million program will award up to 24 grants of $100,000 per year. No cost sharing or match is required.

The applicant organization must be a rural nonprofit or rural public entity that represents a consortium/network of three or more health care providers. Federally-recognized tribal entities are eligible to apply as long as they are located in a rural area.

The application deadline is Jan. 3 for the project period of June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018.
