SDSU Extension is recruiting applicants interested in serving as AmeriCorps VISTA members for the Aging in Place program.
The application deadline is June 9.
Those accepted into the program would serve full time for one year in an office-setting with a team that increases knowledge of and access to health and wellness techniques and resources for economically disadvantaged South Dakotans. AmeriCorps members provide capacity-building to identify existing gaps in consumer knowledge, motivation and barriers to implementation of accessible and universal housing design options, especially in rural, poverty stricken areas. The estimated start date is July 25.
AmeriCorps members receive about $990/month, a $5,815 AmeriCorps education award at completion of service to apply to tuition or student loans and other benefits.
