Health care providers are keenly aware of the importance of delivering the best possible care to patients every day. Part of that effort includes better use of antibiotics. To help raise awareness about antibiotic prescribing and use, Antibiotic Awareness Week is observed each year with Nov. 13-19 designated as the week in 2017.
Antibiotic Awareness Week is an observance to raise awareness of the threat of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate antibiotic prescribing and use. In March 2015 the National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (National Action Plan) was adopted as a roadmap to identify instances of antibiotic resistance, stop the spread of resistance, and improve the prescribing and use of antibiotics.
