Overview:
The Federal expectations for assessment and care planning require a comprehensive, individualized evaluation of the medical and behavioral health needs of each resident. The COVID-19 Pandemic has further challenged long-term care facilities to make modifications to their day-to-day routines in ways that significantly influence residents’ psychosocial well-being, mood, and behavior. This discussion highlights the need to ensure care plans are person-centered and keep pace with the resident’s changing needs in a realistic and meaningful way.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the regulatory expectations for person-centered assessment and care planning;
- Describe the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic relative to quarantine and social distancing on resident psychosocial well-being, mood, and behavior; and
- Develop improved methods for the assessment and person-centered care planning for residents with complicated medical and behavioral health needs.
