The American Hospital Association is holding a MACRA Webinar titled “The New Medicare Physician Payment System: What hospitals and their clinician partners need to know” on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. CST, 1 p.m. MST.
Hospitals and physicians are beginning to grapple with the implications of Medicare’s new physician payment system, which is the result of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). Although the new system will not impact payments until 2019, the first performance year begins 2017 and critical actions need to be taken now to prepare. Whether your clinicians are employed, under contract, or independent, the choices they make to be part of the Merit-based Incentive System (MIPS) or advanced alternative payment models (APMs) will have implications for how you work together to deliver safe, high-quality care.
If you’re confused by the alphabet soup of MIPs and APMs, or are working on organizational strategy, plan to join AHA’s MACRA experts as they analyze the final regulation implementing the new Medicare physician payment system, discuss steps to take now, and review the resources AHA has to help you navigate MACRA.
Speakers include:
- Jay Bhatt, DO, AHA senior vice president, chief medical officer and president of HRET
- Melissa Myers, AHA senior associate director of policy
- Akin Demehin, AHA director of policy
