The USD Sanford School of Medicine and the Alzheimer’s Association are sponsoring the second annual geriatrics symposium on Friday, November 10, 2017. The symposium will address the topic of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias that create significant challenges for patients, families and caregivers.
Objectives of the symposium include:
- Review and discuss the preliminary investigations of the South Dakota Alzheimer’s/Dementia Work Group charged with developing a state Alzheimer’s plan
- Discuss innovations and persisting barriers from the prospective of community based services and institutional care
- Participate with an experienced provider of tele-psychiatry services to long-term care facilities
- Compare and contrast the approaches to the care and management of patients with Alzheimer’s and other dementias from the perspective of specialists in primary care, neurology, psychiatry, and geriatrics
