This week’s Associate Member Spotlight is on Boyce Law Firm, L.L.P. We visited with Tom Johnson to learn more about the business.
What services do you provide? Boyce Law has a number of areas in which we practice, including health care law, business and transactions, employment and workers’ compensation, construction, utilities, real estate, and trusts and estates. Our health care practice provides services to individual providers, hospitals, health systems, long-term care facilities and group practices. We also provide services to service providers or vendors within the health care industry, such as EMR and software companies and medical management companies.
When did your Boyce Law open? The firm was founded in 1878 by Frank L. Boyce. We are celebrating our 140-year anniversary this year. Boyce Law is one of the oldest law firms in the state of South Dakota. We currently have 21 lawyers in the practice.
Who owns the business? The firm is a partnership made up of lawyers within the firm.
How long have you been an Associate Member of SDAHO? Since 2015.
How has Boyce Law Firm grown or changed over the years? Just as the health care industry is evolving, so do we. We find that the our practices evolve with our clients to ensure that we are continuing to bring valued services and counsel to our clients.
Where are you located? We are in downtown Sioux Falls at 300 S. Main Ave.
Do you have a business slogan? We focus on created lasting relationships with our clients. I’ve found that by having a breadth of knowledge about a particular industry, such as the health care industry, we can bring that knowledge and experience to our clients and achieve a greater value-add and better working relationship.
What is one thing people might be surprised to know about Boyce Law? My colleague, Matt Murphy, and I publish a health care-related blog called the “Health Care Law Observer.” You can access the blog by going to https://www.boycehealthlawobserver.com/. The purpose of the blog is to provide timely, relevant updates to the health care industry.
