Dr. Atul Gawande, a surgeon, teacher and best-selling author, has been selected to lead the Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase health care venture that was first announced in January of this year. The still unnamed company will be based in Boston and operate independent from the three founding companies.
Gawande, who is known for his contributions to the health care industry, cited the need to drive down health care spending and improve health outcomes as his reason for taking the job.
