Hospitals added 13,000 new jobs in October, 1,000 more new hires than in September.
Overall, healthcare added 35,600 jobs last month, about 39 percent more than in September. Hiring in the nursing and residential care facilities sector was up 147 percent compared with September, adding 8,400 jobs in October. Within that sector, community care facilities for the elderly added the most at 4,300.
Other job sectors experiencing strong job growth include leisure/hospitality (42,000 jobs added), construction (30,000), transportation (25,000) and warehousing (25,000).
The nation’s overall unemployment did not change from September and remains at 3.7 percent.
