Freeze date announced for February Hospice Compare data

The freeze date for the Hospice Item Set (HIS) data that will be included in quality measure calculations for the February 2019 Hospice Compare refresh is Nov. 15. The February refresh will include HIS data from April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018.  All HIS records, including modifications/corrections and inactivations, need to be submitted and accepted by the Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (QIES) Assessment Submission and Processing (ASAP) system by 11:59:59 p.m. E.T. Nov. 15 to be reflected in the Hospice Provider Preview Report that will be available Dec. 3.

It is the provider’s responsibility to ensure that records are complete and accurate prior to submission to the QIES ASAP system. CMS encourages providers to review quality measure data often using CASPER QM Reports and not to wait until the freeze date or when the Provider Preview Reports are released to submit any necessary HIS corrections.

For more information on how providers can use CASPER QM Reports to review data please see the CASPER QM Reports Fact Sheet in the downloads section of the HQRP Requirements and Best Practices webpage.

For more information about the freeze date, preview reports and key public reporting dates for providers, see the Public Reporting: Key Dates for Providers webpage.
