South Dakota Health Care Solutions Coalition news story clarification

Message from Tim Rave, President/CEO:

I would like to clarify the story released by Keloland earlier today regarding “State-Tribal Healthcare Solutions Committee Ending”.

The South Dakota Health Care Solutions Coalition large group will discontinue as the bulk of the work has already been completed. The broader group was made up of the following: Indian Health Services, Governor’s office, Department of Health, Department of Social Services, Department of Human Services, Department of Tribal Relations, various State Representatives and State Senators, South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations, South Dakota Healthcare Association, South Dakota State Medical Association, tribal representatives, Community Healthcare Association of the Dakotas, Sanford Health, Avera Health, Regional Health, Great Plains Tribal Chairman’s Health Board and others. The larger group will discontinue as it is no longer necessary.

The important takeaway, which was missing in the news story, is the smaller work groups that are currently in affect will continue to work through specific targeted details of the care coordination agreements. The coalition work to enhance access and quality of health care for Native Americans is not going away and will continue under the Noem administration.
