Gov. Noem has selected a new interim Secretary of Social Services after her initial pick resigned three months into his appointment.
Gov. Noem’s office announced in a Tuesday, May 21, news release that Amy Iversen-Pollreisz will begin serving as the interim secretary effective Wednesday, May 23.
“I’m thankful for the ways Amy has served South Dakota through her various roles at DSS over the years,” Gov. Noem said in Tuesday’s release. “I’m confident she’ll continue moving the department in the right direction during this interim period.”
Iversen-Pollreisz currently works as the department’s deputy cabinet secretary and she previously worked as the state Department of Human Services’ director of the Division of Mental Health.
