CMS Provides Online Surveyor Training Resources

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Quality, Safety & Oversight Group reminds providers that online training is available to help surveyors and providers prepare for upcoming surveys. Online courses, web-based training, and video webcasts can be viewed on The Quality, Safety & Education Portal (QSEP).

A course catalog lists available resources and can be filtered by content type and topic, with prerequisites listed where needed.

Available training topics include preparing for a survey to evaluate compliance with Medicare hospital conditions of participation and emergency preparedness requirements; practices and procedures used by health care facilities to prevent and control infections; navigating the State Operations Manual; and the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act survey process.
