Safety Across the Board: From Concept to Practice

Over 4,000 of our nation’s hospitals have joined the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) through a Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) to create safer hospitals and health systems. The Safety Across the Board approach has evolved since its inception. HIIN Contractors with high performing hospital input assisted in creating the Safety Across the Board from Concept to Practice Resource which provides context in understanding and coordinating your organization’s approach to implementing tactics and processes toward achieving Safety Across the Board.

This Safety Across the Board (SAB) Hospital Resource contains:
• Explanation of the HIIN program and harm areas
• Explanation of SAB
• Driver diagram of SAB imperatives and processes
• Tactics to consider
• Seven detailed hospital/health system case studies
• Additional SAB aligned resources

The intent of this SAB Hospital Resource is to help South Dakota hospitals to support ongoing discussions about Safety and Quality at the Board level.
