HHS Requesting Additional Data from Hospitals for Hotspot Distributions

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that it is planning to distribute an addition $10 billion in CARES Act funds to hospitals that have been significantly affected by the increased burden of COVID-19 patients. In order to distribute these funds, HHS is asking for hospitals to provide additional information. This information includes each facility’s Medicare tax identification number and the total number of COVID-19 positive in-patient admissions from January 1, 2020 through June 10, 2020. Hospitals are required to submit this additional information in order to be eligible for these payments, although doing so does not guarantee an eligibility amount. All hospitals are encouraged to apply. Submissions must be made by Monday, June 15.

For more information on this additional funding please see here.
