Don’t miss the upcoming education for the week of March 15-19 that SDAHO and fellow associations are offering.

Overview:  As South Dakota has recently legalized recreational and medical cannabis, we plan to explore what this means for senior living providers and how to address these changes. During this webinar we plan to examine the following:

  • Explore the conflict between state and federal laws that impact how senior living providers address cannabis use by residents and staff.
  • Consider legal and practical differences between the use of medical and recreational cannabis and CBD products.
  • Identify best practices for mitigating risk if permitting or identifying cannabis use by residents or staff.

This workshop describes the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease to then take a deeper look into the behaviors those living with Alzheimer’s may display. This includes wandering, sundown syndrome, and aggressive/agitative behaviors. The goal is to recognize these behaviors as attempts to fulfill an unmet need – to help others search past the behaviors and discover what the individual is trying to communicate. This approach will help professionals, caregivers and family members learn to separate the individual from the disease to then provide support and identify the unique needs of each person affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Registration fee is $25.
