Health Systems Can Apply for Funding to Improve Patient Outcomes

On Feb. 15, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) will launch an AHA-informed initiative that will provide funding to help health care delivery systems and provider-affiliated health plans implement practices that improve patient outcomes, based on findings from PCORI-funded research. PCORI’s Board of Governors recently committed up to $50 million to the Health Systems Implementation Initiative over five years.

The Health Systems Implementation Initiative (HSII) is a new PCORI Dissemination and Implementation program funding initiative.

The first step for healthcare delivery systems and provider-affiliated health plans is to apply to become an HSII Participant. The Call for Proposals to Participate in HSII will open on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. The Call for Proposals, as well as applicant templates and resources, will be available here.

Once accepted into the initiative, HSII Participants will havpcorie the opportunity to lead efforts to support changes in care and care delivery to improve health care and patient health outcomes. PCORI funding will support health systems in initiating these changes within their care delivery settings and in evaluating the impact of these changes. HSII is intended to facilitate lasting change within participating systems and lay groundwork for future, nationwide scale-up of evidence-based practices.
