SDAHO’s Upcoming Educational Opportunities

SDAHO will offer the following professional development opportunities within the month of March. Click the title to register and learn more.

March 1 | A Career Vs. A Calling | Presenter: Rhonda Kemmis

Each of us makes the major decision of what career to enter very early in life. We then spend the next 30 to 40 years living out that legacy. Are we doing what we were born to do and does our work align with our deepest values? Participants will revisit initial reasons for entering their careers, discuss how that ‘fit’ feels today, analyze their energy balance of expenditure and recovery, and complete an assessment on compassion fatigue. Participants belly laugh, they get misty-eyed, but most important, they ponder their lives and their work at a deeper level than they have in a very long time.

March 2 | CMS COVID-19 Healthcare Staff Vaccination Requirements | Presenter:  Nancy Ruzicka

This webinar will review the newly revised infection control requirements that Medicare and Medicaid certified providers and suppliers such as hospitals, critical access hospitals, long term care facilities, home health agencies, hospices and many others must meet in order to continue to participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. This webinar will discuss time frames for compliance, required policies and procedures, how the facility must comply with the provision of reasonable accommodations and vaccination enforcement.

Swing Beds can be a financial lifeline for Critical Access Hospitals. CMS completely rewrote all the swing bed regulations with updates in late 2019. The regulations are in one manual – Appendix W for Critical Access Hospitals – and the interpretive guidelines and survey procedures are in another manual – Appendix PP for Long Term Care. There is no crosswalk, so this webinar was created to assist CAHs in deciphering the mystery.

March 15 | Recognizing and Rewarding Employees | Presenter: Mary Sand

Recognizing and rewarding employees has a positive impact on engagement, productivity, retention, culture and satisfaction. If that isn’t enough to convince you of the importance of this topic then consider this additional benefit which is that you don’t need a stash of cash to be successful.
