The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations has served members for over 95 years, originally focusing on our state’s hospitals, and later expanding to include senior care. Today SDAHO offers members a variety of resources that includes education, advocacy assistance, annual networking through conferences, leadership training and more. Kallee Rydland is the Director of Operations and the Assistant to the President of SDAHO and part of her role is to ensure the many moving pieces at SDAHO continue moving for the benefit of its members.
Kallee began her healthcare career with Avera Health, where she served the administration for 8 years, In 2017 she began working for SDAHO, with her main focus assisting SDAHO’s President and CEO. “I do a lot of different things, but my main priority is taking care of our CEO and anything that he might need on a day-to-day basis. I also assist our board of trustees and make sure everything runs smoothly for them. I also handle any day-to-day operations in our building and for our staff. I have a piece of everything, I touch it all.” Kallee Rydland, MHA, SDAHO Dir. Of Operations and Assistant to the President.
Kallee’s favorite part of her role is serving the members. “I enjoy getting to know them, not only professionally but on a personal level too. I also love the advocacy side, where we can make a difference on this side of healthcare.” Kallee says so often people think of healthcare as direct patient care, which is so important, but she wants others to know that there is so much more that goes into it. “There is so much more that goes into healthcare such as legislation and making sure our members have everything they need to make their lives easier in their roles. For me, getting to be a part of that is rewarding.”
Kallee was born and raised in Pierre, South Dakota. She moved to the Sioux Falls area in 2008 and has enjoyed every minute of it. She earned her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences from SDSU and her master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of South Dakota. She and her husband have two children and when Kallee is not working, she can be found at the dance studio or the baseball field. “Our two kids keep us super busy. We have a 13-year-old boy who is a baseball player and travels a lot during the spring and summer. Our daughter is 9 and she is a competitive dancer, all year she keeps us busy with dance.” Kallee Rydland, MHA, SDAHO Dir. Of Operations and Assistant to the President.
