Living and Working in Mobridge, South Dakota

Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics is a member facility featured in the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations, Hometown Healthcare hero campaign for the month of December. To help member facilities with workforce needs, SDAHO launched this storytelling campaign designed to recognize career opportunities and celebrate the people that work there and the communities they live in.

Located in Walworth County, South Dakota with a population of just over 3,100 people, this unique rural town brings Mobridge and area residents a small town feel with big town amenities.

Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics (MRHC) offers Mobridge and the surrounding area an award winning 25 bed critical access hospital, four rural health clinics, a rural ambulance service, an assisted living and senior living facility on site. In addition, there is a robust specialty clinic that brings in specialty providers for more healthcare services.

The MRHC leadership invests not only in the staff to ensure compassionate and quality care for their patients, but they also invest in the community. MRHC partners with the Mobridge-Pollock School District to teach students about healthcare careers. “They allow us to utilize one of their employees for half a day and we were able to add a career and technical cluster of health sciences. So, for the last few years we offered medical terminology, intro to physical therapy and intro to health sciences, and health science 1 & 2.” Tim Frederick, Superintendent, Mobridge-Pollock School District. This has allowed both the school district and MRHC to introduce local students to healthcare careers they could pursue in their own community. In addition, the city of Mobridge has a strong working relationship with MRHC. In addition, MRHC provides a nurse for the school district in addition to athletic physicals for student athletes. That MRHC’s working relationship extends to the City of Mobridge as well. Heather Beck is the Finance Officer for the city of Mobridge. “We have a great working relationship with Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics. Our communication is really strong, and they know that the city is always here for them and vice versa. If we need anything from the hospital, we can call, and they will be there for us.” Heather Beck, Finance Officer, City of Mobridge.

Mobridge, South Dakota is a full-service community with everyone residents need from shopping, entertainment, recreational activities, a thriving school system, daycare and top notch healthcare services.
