Last Tuesday kicked off the 98th South Dakota Legislative Session. The first week involved several informational meetings, with little committee action.
Week 2 has concluded with several more bills filed and being considered in committees. Healthcare will once again be a focal point during this year’s sessions, with several topics expected to take center stage that could include Medicaid expansion, abortion legislation, food tax repeal, medical marijuana clean-up language, medical conscience and youth vaccinations.
Thus far a total of 170 bills have been filed, and SDAHO is actively following 35 of those bills with more expected to be added to our list in the new week. To take a closer look at all of the bills filed so far this session, visit the South Dakota Legislative Research Council’s Page. To see a full list of the bills that SDAHO is actively following in addition to the associations official position on a bill, visit our Bill Tracker. There you will find real time updates on legislation impacting the healthcare community, in addition to the upcoming hearings and changes to bills.
