Long-Term Care Sustainability Study and SDAHO Featured in McKnight’s Senior Living National Publication

The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) is actively taking part in a South Dakota legislative summer committee studying sustainable long-term care models. SDAHO reported on May 26 the association’s role in sharing specific data to the committee that was provided to SDAHO by its members. President/CEO of SDAHO Tim Rave, “In the 20 years I have been part of the process, this is the first time I have seen a holistic approach that covers everything from home health, hospice, palliative care to our hospitals. I also recognize that with all of the stakeholders that have been invited to the table, including SDAHO I am hopeful this collaborative effort will result in long term solutions for the long-term care industry and the people of South Dakota.”

This past week McKnight’s Senior Living featured SDAHO and the state’s long-term care legislative study. The article referenced previous state commissioned studies and committees tasked with looking at long-term care in South Dakota, including previous efforts that led to Dakota at Home.

McKnight also included a statement from Tammy Hatting, SDAHO’s Chief Operating Officer, “Workforce and preservation of our rural communities is the number one concern and priority for our members.  There is a wide spectrum of patients and residents with diverse needs on Medicaid, so it will be important to include education for our legislators on the levels of care and federal regulatory framework in which we operate.”
