The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO’s) 2023 Annual Report is now available on the SDAHO website.
Each year SDAHO provides an annual report providing an overview of the past year, with insight from association leadership on projects and accomplishments, updates on councils, to reports from the board chair.
Advocacy:
The report begins with an overview of SDAHO’s advocacy efforts, with stats from the 2023 legislative session. The team tracked 104 healthcare related bills, passed 17 bills focused on SDAHO’s advocacy priorities, and blocked 7 detrimental to healthcare in South Dakota. Last, SDAHO successfully lobbied for an increase of $113.5 million for Medicaid providers.
Board Chair’s Report
SDAHO welcomed a new Board of Trustees chairperson at the end of 2022 with Jason Merkley, President / CEO, Brookings Health System. Chairman Merkley provided a Board Chair’s report as part of SDAHO’s annual report, highlighting:

Tim Rave, President/CEO of SDAHO focused on the many successes SDAHO celebrated this past year, which included increasing educational opportunities, business development partnerships, grants, and more, all focusing on serving SDAHO members. Also included are updates on the seven SDAHO councils, updates from SDAHO delegates with the American Hospital Association and LeadingAge.
