2024 Legislative Impact Brief Now Available to SDAHO Members

This legislative brief list legislation passed during the 2024 Session of the South Dakota Legislature and a brief description of anticipated impacts to health care providers. A full list of legislation monitored by SDAHO is available on SDAHO’s 2024 bill tracker.

During the 2024 Legislative Session, the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) Advocacy team worked hard to make sure healthcare voices were heard. This year, several of the bills were a result from the 2024 Long-Term Care Summer study The brief takes a deeper dive into legislation focusing on a variety of issues, including medical cannabis, licensure and scope of practice, emergency medical services, healthcare workforce, prescription drugs, and final increases for Medicaid Providers, in addition to targeted increases in long-term care.

The 2024 Legislative Impact Brief is a resource for SDAHO members. If you’d like to learn more about how the 2024 Legislative Session impacted healthcare facilities, please visit the member resources in the Member Portal.

If you have questions about the brief or the 2024 Legislative Session, please contact Jacob Parsons, SDAHO’s Director of Advocacy and Reimbursement.
