New hospital price transparency requirements

On July 1, changes to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Hospital Price Transparency Rule took effect. Going forward, hospitals are required to use a standard machine-readable file format, which includes some new data elements, such as the negotiated rate methodology and an accuracy and completeness statement.
Details of the hospital price transparency final provisions of the calendar year 2024 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System final rule (CMS-1786-FC) can be found in the CMS Fact Sheet.
