There are many reasons why you should attend this year’s convention – but the SDAHO team came up with the Top 10 reasons!

10.  Continuing Education Units. 2024 is a renewal year for nursing facility administrators, and attending this year’s convention and taking part in sessions to offer CEU’s is a great way to make sure you have all the credits you need for your license. (Justin Hinker, VP Post-Acute Care, SDAHO)

9.   Education Session featuring Project Recovery: Addiction: Through the Lens of Chronic Disease, September 26, 9:30am MT. The panel will talk about the work they are doing to reduce opioid use disorder in South Dakota and the additional work they are doing to help South Dakotans.  (Loretta Bryan, Clinical Improvement Consultant, SDAHO)

8.   Over 25 sessions to pick from, with 9 different tracks offered this year. Tracks include Quality, HR, HIMSS, Social Work, Nursing, Leadership, Finance, Marketing & Media Relations, Post-Acute Care. (Tammy Hatting, COO, SDAHO)

7.   The first ever marketing and media relations track. Attendees can take part in free media training, in addition healthcare marketers will share healthcare campaigns and the latest in healthcare trends. (Stephanie Rissler, Marketing & Media Relations Manager, SDAHO)

6.   Workforce networking opportunities with your colleagues to discuss retention and recruitment strategies. In addition, this year, workforce education is being offered (Lindsay Stroman, Workforce Development Coordinator, SDAHO)

5.   Golf! This year’s convention offers opportunities to connect with your colleagues from across South Dakota. Plan to engage with others during many of the sessions that are being offered or take part in this year’s golf tournament for a more laid-back conversation. After golf on Wednesday, you’ll have plenty of time to check out Mt. Rushmore. (Jacob Parsons, Dir. Of Advocacy and Reimbursement, SDAHO)

4.   The HIKING and outdoor opportunities! Rapid City offers many trails not far from this year’s venue. After a day of networking and learning, grab your hiking shoes and stretch your legs and take in some fresh Black Hills air. If you are more interested in a scenic drive, the Needles Highway and Custer State Park is less than an hour’s drive away. (Debra Morello, Nursing Professional Development Specialist, SDAHO)

3.   The EXTRAS! While the education is great, convention attendees can also look forward to a few of the extras that include the Award Luncheon on Thursday September 26 at 12pm MT. Later than evening, starting at 4pm, is the exhibitor social with over 50 booths attending this year! Visit with exhibitors and businesses to learn the latest trends and innovations in healthcare. (Kallee Rydland, Dir. Of Operations / Asst. to SDAHO President/CEO, SDAHO)

2.   Peer Presentations! SDAHO works hard to bring industry experts and speakers, and that includes many who live in South Dakota.  Attendees can take part in educational offerings featuring some of South Dakota’s brightest healthcare professionals. So come ready to learn from your peers! (Michella Sybesma, VP Education and Communications, SDAHO)

1.   YOU! The number one reason to attend this year’s Annual Convention is YOU. Investing in your own professional development and growth is important.  SDAHO is excited and proud that for 98 years we have been able to offer our members educational and networking opportunities. Even better, this year we get to do it in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. We look forward to seeing everyone there! (Tim Rave, President/CEO, SDAHO)
