Updated Social Work Continuing Education Requirements
On October 22, 2024, the Interim Rules Review Committee approved updates to ARSD 20:59, effective November 11, 2024. You can review the updated rules here. While most changes focus on form and style, key updates are outlined below.
For All Licensees: Starting with renewals for December 31, 2025, licensees must complete at least 6 hours of Social Work Ethics as part of the required 30 continuing education hours. This does not apply to renewals for December 31, 2024. See ARSD 20:59:04:02 for more details.
All licensees must comply with SDCL 36-26 and ARSD 20:59. The Board cannot provide legal advice or interpret laws.
As SDAHO develops the 2025 education curriculum, ethics topics will be included to help meet these new requirements. To view our current library of educational offerings, click here.
