SDAHO Preparing for 2025 Legislative Session

The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) is gearing up for South Dakota’s 2025 Legislative session. Efforts to connect with new and returning state lawmakers began in the fall of 2024 with Legislative Forums.

These meetings allowed attendees to hear from SDAHO President/CEO, Tim Rave about the healthcare issues the association anticipates will take center stage. In addition, the forums provide the opportunity for state lawmakers to visit one on one with SDAHO members who are interested in learning more about the upcoming legislative session. Forums attended this year included:

  • December 12, 2024 – Rapid City
  • December 16, 2024 –Mitchell & Sioux Falls
  • December 17, 2024 – Pierre & Aberdeen

The 2025 Legislative session will kick off on Tuesday January 14, 2025, at 12pm CT / 11am MT, followed by the State of the State Address delivered by Governor Kristi Noem.

2025 Pre-Legislative Webinar: Monday January 13, 2025, SDAHO MEMBERS ONLY can join the SDAHO advocacy team for this virtual pre-legislative webinar. Attendees will learn about bills filed so far, and what key issues the SDAHO advocacy team will be tracking the first few weeks of session. To help members stay on top of legislation that may impact the health care community, each week during the entire run of the legislative session, SDAHO will  provide a variety of communication options for member:

  • Unified Voice – Each week SDAHO will provide a legislative weekly Updates. These articles can be found on SDAHO’s Website in the News Section, and in the Unified Voice Digital Newsletter (distributed to subscribers on Monday mornings)
  • Legislative Podcast – Each Friday SDAHO’s President/CEO will provide a :90 second podcast outlining the top issues from the past week, and what to expect for the upcoming week. Podcasts can be accessed through the SDAHO State Advocacy Page
  • Action Alerts – Throughout session there may be times when issues will need to be elevated and brought to the attention of our members. SDAHO will use Action Alerts shared through targeted emails, social media and Unified Voice.
  • Social media – SDAHO will use the associations social media platforms to share information on important bills, newsworthy testimonial audio and more.

SDAHO’s State Advocacy page is a great way to stay connected to the legislative session. Through the Bill Tracker, visitors can see in real time legislation that SDAHO is actively following. Each bill has a direct link to the state Legislative Research Council Page, where more information can be found on specific bills, committee hearings and more.
