The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) is excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Greg Wilcox to the 2025 Post-Acute Partners in Care Conference, where he will deliver the closing keynote presentation.
This year’s event takes place April 8-9, 2025, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center and is celebrating its 25th year hosting this annual long-term care conference. There is no better way to celebrate this monumental milestone for SDAHO than by hearing from Rev. Dr. Greg Wilcox, as he closes the conference.
Rev. Wilcox served five years as a parish pastor in Northern Minnesota, followed by 32 years with The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society—first as Director of Spiritual Ministry and then as V.P. for Mission Integration. After retiring from Good Samaritan, he has served with the E.L.C.A. as an interim parish pastor in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls and went on to get his Master of Divinity and his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN.
A deeply rooted legacy
Greg’s roots with the Good Samaritan Society start at birth. He is a grandson of founder Rev. August “Dad” Hoeger who began the organization on Sept. 29, 1922.
Rev. Wilcox was a teenager, when he was assigned his first job with the Good Samaritan Society – Hastings Village where he worked with the maintenance crew. It was there that he spent more time with his grandparents, who lived there in later years.
He attended Lincoln High School and Augustana University, while also working as a CNA for the Society at Sioux Falls Center and Sioux Falls Village. The experience of those jobs prepared him for his future career.
Rev. Wilcox developed the Good Samaritan Society’s curriculum for lay ministry, the STAR Program and its culture change movement, Christian Communities of Care. Throughout his time with the Society, he led retreats, seminars and workshops on spirituality and aging, including the Aging Faithfully conference.
He also played an integral role in the Society’s Project Outreach program, leading mission trips to Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Colombia.
On his retirement, Rev. Wilcox shared, “The Good Samaritan Society is dedicated to sharing God’s love through the work of health, health and comfort.
SDAHO is excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Greg Wilcox to this year’s 2025 Post-Acute Partners in Care to share his stories, wisdom and knowledge.
