A record 40,764 medical school seniors and graduates were matched to 43,237 U.S. residency positions, according to the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) on March 21. The applicants include both U.S. and international medical school students and graduates. In South Dakota, 57 applicants were placed in residency training programs in 2024, an increase of five positions compared to 2023. Specialty interests included pediatrics and internal medicine. See the SD NMRP snapshot here.
