The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) is excited to share news of a major health care expansion in Sioux Falls. Avera Heart Hospital has officially broken ground on a $21.5 million addition — the largest since the hospital opened in 2001. SDAHO President and CEO Tim Rave attended the event to celebrate this milestone and recognize the continued innovation and investment in health care across South Dakota.
The 35,000-square-foot expansion, located on the north side of the hospital along Interstate 229, will feature advanced diagnostic imaging technology and expanded administrative space. The three-story project will include cutting-edge cardiac imaging such as PET-CT, SPECT scans, and cardiac MRI, along with dedicated nuclear stress and echo/vascular sonography rooms. The addition will also create room for the hospital’s North Central Heart clinic to expand its services.
“Congratulations to Avera Heart Hospital on their expanded services to the region.” said Rave. “It’s a great example of how our health care systems continue to innovate and meet the needs of South Dakotans close to home.”
The new imaging center is expected to open next winter, offering patients enhanced access to state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment.
