SDAHO Leadership: A century of impact

As the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations celebrates 100 years, one thing is clear—strong leadership has always been at the heart of its success.

From its early days as the South Dakota Hospital Association to today, just six executive leaders have helped guide SDAHO’s growth and evolution:

  • Jack Rogers (1957) – First Executive Director
  • William Murphy (1962)
  • Frank Drew (1975) – Longest-serving leader
  • Dave Hewett (1997) – First President/CEO
  • Scott Duke (2015–2018)
  • Tim Rave (2018–Present)

While leadership at the top has remained remarkably consistent, SDAHO’s strength is powered by many. Dedicated teams and a committed Board of Trustees have played a vital role in shaping the organization’s direction and impact.

Over the past century, 95 Board Chairs—representing communities across South Dakota—have stepped forward to lead, each leaving a lasting mark on health care in the state.

Current Board Chair Paulette Davidson – President & CEO, Monument Health and Mark Burkett – CEO, Platte Health Center, Avera (former SDAHO Board Chair 2003-2004) share their thoughts on serving in leadership roles in the SDAHO Historical Documentary, A Century Strong.
