South Dakotans will make history on Tuesday, July 28, as the state holds its first-ever gubernatorial primary runoff election. This unique election gives eligible voters another opportunity to help determine who will appear on the general election ballot.
If you’re registered to vote and eligible to participate, now is the time to make a plan. Whether you choose to vote on Election Day or cast your ballot early, every vote plays an important role in shaping the future of our state.
Key Dates to Remember
- Election Day: Tuesday, July 28
- Voter registration deadline: Monday, July 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. local time.
- Early Voting: Last day for early voting: Monday, July 27, 2026 (through the close of your county auditor’s office).
