In 2018 South Dakota hospitals and nursing homes treated 378,697 people in their emergency departments, provided 3,185,801 outpatient visits, performed over 64,169 surgeries, delivered 13,122 babies, and treated 7,400 nursing home residents. Every year, hospitals and nursing homes provide vital health care services like these to thousands of South Dakotans in their communities.
