Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (MLPW) provides the profession with a unique opportunity to increase public understanding of and appreciation for clinical laboratory personnel.
MLPW, which takes place the last full week in April each year, is coordinated by a collaborative committee with representatives from 17 national clinical laboratory organizations.
Medical Laboratory Professionals Week originated in 1975 as National Medical Laboratory Week, or NMLW, under the auspices of the American Society for Medical Technology, now called the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS).
This week is an exciting and important time to recognize clinical and public health laboratory professionals for the contributions they make to the health of our:
- Communities, through their work in public health and clinical laboratories
- Family members, friends, and colleagues who are patients in clinical settings
There is no better time to celebrate the thousands of laboratory professionals working to support the health of patients and communities across America right now! During this 45th Lab Week, we will celebrate the United States’ critical healthcare workforce and thank you for your service to our country, and the world.
Thank a medical laboratory professional today!
