Invest in Aging Services

Aging services are an essential part of the nation’s infrastructure. There are 52 million people over age 65, a population that is expected to double by 2040. Right now, we don’t have the infrastructure for aging services that we need—and the systems we do have are crumbling.

We now have the opportunity to invest $400 billion in home and community-based services (HCBS) as Congress considers the President’s proposal on providing these services as part of the next infrastructure package.

ACT NOW by contacting your U.S. Representative and Senators and urging them to invest in our aging services infrastructure by supporting:

  • The American Jobs Plan provision to invest $400 billion in HCBS expansion.
  • An increase to the federal Medicaid match for Medicaid HCBS, including waiver and state plan services like adult day and personal care services.
  • Critical investments in other services in the home and community through Medicare home health and hospice.

LeadingAge created the Blueprint for a Better Aging Infrastructure as a set of recommendations that address the economic, social, and racial inequities older Americans face. Build awareness and support for these recommendations by asking Congress to invest in these vital programs today.
