Well-Child Provider Scorecard and Resources

On July 15, 2021, South Dakota Medicaid announced that they will be sending providers a well-child provider scorecard. The card will compare the percentage of wellness visits completed by the provider to health system and state averages. This will be based on:

  • Recipients on a providers score card as of December 31, 2021
  • Recipients eligible for Medicaid in the last three months
  • Recipients who had a preventative care visit billed to South Dakota Medicaid in calendar year 2020.

Emails containing scorecards can be expected before the end of the summer.

South Dakota Medicaid has developed several free resources for providers looking to promote well-child visits. These resources may be helpful to providers hoping to increase the number of recipients coming in for preventative care visits. Information on well-child check-ups can be found here, and providers can order resources here. The Department also created resources for use on social media, which can be found here.
