South Dakota health officials say the state is seeing its first influenza cases of the 2016-2017 season.
An influenza A case has been detected in a Pennington County resident in the 20-29 age group confirmed with influenza A. And the first influenza hospitalization was reported in a Potter County resident in the 20-29 age group with influenza B, according to the South Dakota Department of Health.
Family and Community Health Director Colleen Winter says a yearly flu shot is the best way to guard against influenza, and now is the time to get vaccinated.
