Overview:
In this session, news and trends in Assisted Living operations and standards will be reviewed from a national perspective. Cory Kallheim, VP of Legal Affairs, and Dee Pekruhn, Dir. Of Life Plan Community Services and Policy, LeadingAge, will discuss the topic in four core areas: national standards and the OSHA ETS; current trends in AL; resident rights and responsibilities; and a discussion on training and education.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the latest progress on the development of national standards of practice for Assisted Living, and review how the new OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard will impact AL providers.
- Examine current trends in Assisted Living, such as development and design, fluctuations in occupancy, and the effect of downsizing of skilled nursing facilities on Assisted Living providers and residents.
- Review resident rights and responsibilities for Assisted Living providers and discuss key areas of especially concern to ombudsmen.
- Discuss the development of education and training materials tailored to Assisted Living employees and managers.
