Congratulations to this months, SDAHO Hometown Healthcare Heroes member facility and community, Winner Regional Health in Winner, South Dakota. This week SDAHO continues to celebrate both the facility and the community. Meet Linda Schueth, RN, and the Outpatient Nurse Supervisor.
Linda has worked in healthcare for 44 years, with 40 of those years at Winner Regional Health. “We are so lucky, not only do we have our hospital, but we also have two clinics in town, and we have a surgeon. A lot of smaller hospitals do not have surgery available anymore, that means we can deliver babies.” In addition to a surgeon, Linda says another unique thing about Winner Regional health is the many outreach clinics available to patients in the area. “This is especially helpful for our elderly patients, as it allows them to receive the care, they need right here in Winner instead of driving three hours away for care.” Winner Regional Health has added an additional service to the community, an emergency air medical transport through Guardian Flight. It will run 24-hours a day serving the communities of Tripp County and the surrounding regions.
Winner is like many small communities across the country, with a robust downtown seeing steady economic growth. With this growth comes career opportunities in varies industries, including Winner Regional Health, with openings in almost every department. Linda is originally from Wessington Springs, South Dakota has called Winner home for over 40 years. “Winner is a very friendly community. It is small but you have your privacy, you know your neighbors and your neighbors know you. It has many opportunities throughout the community and the health system is amazing.” Linda says becoming involved with the community is an easy and fun thing to do, regardless of where someone might move from. “As people become acquainted with the community and involved with the community, I know they would be happy living and working in this area.”
