Project SCOPE: Supporting Children of the Opioid Epidemic

​According to Healthychildren.org, every 15 minutes a child is born with Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome or Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.​
Project SCOPE: Supporting Children of the Opioid Epidemic is a national training initiative intended to build provider capacity and confidence in applying evidenced-based practices in screening, monitoring and interdisciplinary support for children and families diagnosed with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (NOWS), or who are suspected of being impacted by substance use, trauma, or related exposure.

The University of South Dakota and Project Echo will be offering Project Scope training sessions starting on May 4th. Nine educational sessions with be held throughout May and June, covering varying aspects regarding how the opioid epidemic is affecting children and how to effectively apply current research into everyday practice.
