SDAHO Receives South Dakota Community Foundation Grant to Assist with Workforce Needs

The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) is excited to announce they are the recipients of a South Dakota Community Foundation (SDFC) grant to assist with workforce needs across the state. Funding will go toward the SDAHO video storytelling project: Hometown Healthcare Heroes. This project is designed to help healthcare facilities and communities with the greatest workforce recruitment needs.

Hometown Healthcare Heroes debuted in November of 2021, with the intent of assisting SDAHO members in rural communities with workforce challenges by showcasing the healthcare facility, community, and residents. Prior to receiving the grant, SDAHO featured three communities, Webster, Pierre, and Winner. Each video included interviews from hospital staff and community members sharing personal stories of why they love where they work and live.  Stephanie Rissler, Communication Manager assisted with creating the project to promote job opportunities in some of South Dakotas more rural areas. “Our members were telling us they needed help with workforce recruitment, we came up with Hometown Healthcare Heroes last year to offer one more tool for our members.” Stephanie is excited to move forward with the project and says with funding support through the SDCF grant, we can do more to highlight many of our member facilities and communities in need of workforce recruitment help. “I am excited about lifting our member facilities and their communities up through this project. There are so many industries looking for workers and living in a small town makes it even harder. We need to not only promote a job opportunity but promote the community and put both of those in a positive light. We can do both with Hometown Healthcare Heroes.”

SDAHO will begin featuring member facilities and communities in May of 2022, until May of 2023, at no cost to the member facility. Each feature includes a video, press releases, written articles, social media posts, and paid advertising via SDAHO social media platforms. All content created will be shared with member facilities. To learn more about the Hometown Healthcare Hero Campaign and to have your facility/community featured, fill out the survey to begin the process or contact Stephanie Rissler.
