Building a Strong Future for Nursing in South Dakota – Starting Now!

According to the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation job opening database, there’s more than 1,700 job openings in the healthcare field. A 2020 workforce report by the state labor department said there’s nearly 1,000 annual job openings for registered nurses and a projected need of 14,643 registered nurses in 2028.

On July 12-13, SDAHO will bring the South Dakota Department of Labor, Department of Health, Department of Education, Board of Nursing, Board of Technical Education and Board of Regents together to learn about current initiatives happening now and into the future to support our nursing and healthcare workforce. Healthcare leaders will then take part in a roundtable discussion, where questions will be posed on how we can most effectively utilize the nursing care resources we currently have and what bold steps need to be taken to help this workforce challenge.

The time is NOW to bring healthcare, education and government leaders to the table to discuss real solutions and innovative strategies for South Dakota’s healthcare workforce. If you are a healthcare leader (CEO, administrator, CNO/DON, nursing leader, CFO or human resource), we need your voice! Register here today, seating is limited.
