South Dakota Hospitals Recognized in Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals

The National Rural Health Association (NRHA) recognized the Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals in the nation and three South Dakota hospitals were named. Brookings Health System, Brookings, SD, Monument Health Spearfish, Spearfish, SD, and Prairie Lakes Healthcare, Watertown, SD were recognized based on the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, the most comprehensive and objective assessment of U.S. rural Prospective Payment System (PPS) hospital performance based upon market, value-based and financial measures. The Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals were recognized from the list of the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals as determined by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
The Top 20 Rural and Community Hospital winners are honored annually during a luncheon at NRHA’s Annual Rural Health Conference and NRHA’s Rural Hospital Innovation Summit.  To learn more about the Top 20 Rural Community Hospitals recognition program click here.
