SDAHO Welcomes Justin Hinker as VP of Post-Acute Care

The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) welcomes Justin Hinker as the Vice President of Post-Acute Care, a new department and position for the association. In this new role Hinker will work to support the staff of our member facilities and agencies across the state. In addition, he will serve as a conduit between state agencies and SDAHO members. Hinker says he will work on getting to know and better understand the needs of the associationā€™s members while learning more about the resources and tools available to them. Long term goals for this new position include growing the associationā€™s membership, assisting member facilities for survey preparedness and helping members with potential reimbursement opportunities.

While the VP of Post-Acute Care is a new position for Hinker, he is not a stranger to SDAHO. ā€œI have served on the SDAHO Board of Directors, and I have also served on the Post-Acute Care Council.ā€

Hinker is also a State Executive for LeadingAge. ā€œSDAHO has a great reputation, and I am proud to be part of an organization that can meet the healthcare need of the residents of South Dakota. We support the entire healthcare continuum through SDAHO, and I am glad to be a piece of that puzzle.ā€

Hinker comes to SDAHO with 29 years of experience working in the long-term care industry. Prior to SDAHO, Hinker served as the administrator for Avera Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls, in addition he worked for the Good Samaritan Society until 2008. Hinker says he got into healthcare because he knew the administrator of the long-term care facility in his hometown in Howard, South Dakota. ā€œHe was a great resource and encouraged me to enter the field. The people are what make this line of work rewarding. Whether it is the residents who reside in a facility or agencies we support, or the staff who take care of those who live there, they all make it rewarding. My position with SDAHO will allow me to continue to help people in a different way.ā€

Hinker attended the University of South Dakota where he earned a Health Services Administration degree. He and his wife Julie who teaches Junior Kindergarten, reside in Lennox South Dakota where they raised their 4 children. When not working Hinker says he enjoys being outside, especially spending time with family and friends and perhaps golfing.

Please join us in welcoming Justin Hinker, as SDAHOā€™s Vice President of Post-Acute Care.
