Bryan Breitling Returns to SDAHO Board of Trustees

The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) is pleased to announce that Bryan Breitling has rejoined the SDAHO Board of Trustees, filling the seat previously held by Nick Fosness.

Breitling is a longtime rural hospital administrator with Avera Health with over 20 years of leadership experience. Today, he serves the Dell Rapids and Flandreau hospitals. He is also well-known to SDAHO, having served in multiple board leadership roles from 2011 to 2020. Breitling represented South Dakotans in the State Senate from 2021 to 2024. In recognition of his service to health care and the state of South Dakota, Breitling received SDAHO’s Distinguished Service Award – State Legislator of the Year in 2024.

This transition follows the recent appointment of Nick Fosness of Britton to the South Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 1. Governor Larry Rhoden announced the appointment in August after the resignation of Christopher Reder of rural Warner, who stepped down on May 2.

Fosness, who serves as Chief Executive Officer of Avera Marshall County Healthcare Center, has more than 26 years of healthcare leadership experience and previously served nine years on the Britton-Hecla School Board.

SDAHO extends its gratitude to Fosness for his continued leadership in health care and congratulates him on his legislative appointment, while also warmly welcoming back Bryan Breitling to the Board of Trustees.
