Acute Services

Originating as the state hospital association, SDAHO was founded by hospital administrators and physicians. Although SDAHO has broadened its membership to include the continuum of care, the majority of SDAHO membership is hospitals; including perspective payment system (PPS), critical access , long term care, rehab and psychiatric.

SDAHO is a member of the American Hospital Association and the National Rural Health Association providing SDAHO members with valuable information and resources from these national organizations.

SDAHO oversees the collection and publication of claims data for hospitals in the state to assist in transparency of health care costs in accordance with state statute SDCL 34-12E-11, 11.1, 12 and 13.

The association also works with many hospitals in the state to help reduce hospital disparities by serving as a subcontractor for many quality related grants.

In 1995, the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations became a state partner for LeadingAge (formerly the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging). Today, SDAHO is also affiliated with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, leveraging national contacts across the post-acute care services continuum.

SDAHO is committed to working in the best interest of our membership and offering services that support their efforts.
