South Dakota Medicaid updates billing requirements for rendering NPI and taxonomy

South Dakota Medicaid has made an update to billing requirements to always require the rendering (servicing) NPI and taxonomy for claims billed on a CMS 1500 claim form. The South Dakota Department of Social Services has received questions and feedback about the requirement for electronic submissions when the rendering provider information is the same as the billing provider information.

CMS posts documents from May 2 SNF, LTCH, IRF quality reporting webinar

As promised, CMS has posted the recording, post-training materials and question and answer (Q&A) documents of the May 2 webinar explaining the Review and Correct process for the SNF, LTCH and IRF Quality Reporting Programs. The materials provide helpful information to providers on where to find the necessary reports within the CASPER system in order to make any necessary corrections prior to the quality reporting deadlines.

SD BMOE to hold June 8 public hearing

The South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners has scheduled a public hearing in Sioux Falls on June 8 to consider petitions for declaratory rulings on four issues about whether the attending physician can delegate the task of writing orders to the following health care professionals for residents of a nursing facility and whether writing orders is within the scope of practice for those professionals as defined by state law.

The center combines the expertise of applied and academic researchers with the unique perspectives of providers and consumers of long-term services and supports (LTSS).

CBO: House-passed version of AHCA would increase number of uninsured to 23M by 2026

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) on Wednesday scored the House-passed version of the American Health Care Act (AHCA), saying the legislation would increase the number of uninsured people by 23 million in 2026 relative to current law. The report from the CBO and the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) said the bill would result in 14 million more uninsured people in 2018.

DOH schedules hearing on rules for EMRs

The South Dakota Department of Health has scheduled a June 6 hearing on the regulation of emergency medical responders (EMRs) and revised rules for emergency medical technicians (EMTs). The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CDT at the Hayes Building, 600 E. Capitol Ave., Room 107.
